Empty Nest founder Anita Morrill spent her childhood surrounded by gourmet cooks and crowd-pleasing party planners, learning the ropes from people with a flair and an instinct for creating lively dinners, special occasions and lasting memories.
Of course, their official titles were “Grandma B” and “Mom” and “Auntie Carol.”
Growing up in a family steeped in Italian traditions, Anita learned firsthand how great meals and great times bring people together. She’s been perfecting her own entertaining skills ever since, delighting clients, friends and family with the best of classic, old world traditions combined with modern, artisan sensibilities.
And maybe just a few glasses of wine
While mouth-watering food and social gatherings have always been a part of her life, Anita honed her professional chops working for various organizations that allowed her to combine her event planning talents with her passion for giving back to the community. She has organized major gala events, community projects and special programs throughout her career, including in her roles as Foundations Manager for RDV Sports, where she managed the Foundations Program for the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation and Solar Bears Foundation, and as a Community Relations Manager for Barnett Bank of Central Florida.
After raising three sons, Anita realized that we have to take time out to build and savor the traditions, memorable moments and special occasions in life. And in an age when everyone is busier than ever and our communications are increasingly virtual, that seems easier said than done.
She founded Empty Nest to help people create those personal connections and lasting memories they will always cherish. Whether it’s a charitable event, a holiday party or a family gathering, each Empty Nest experience starts with delicious food, distinctive touches and a stylish yet inviting atmosphere. And with every detail handled so you can relish every minute, Anita gives you the luxury of throwing an event you can truly be a part of.
Anita’s friends and family will tell you she’s never met a culinary challenge she was afraid to tackle. She also firmly believes that “chic” doesn’t mean “stuffy.” From her artisan cocktail creations to ravioli made using a recipe that’s been handed down through the generations, she brings foodie flair to the family table.
For all of her successes on the professional front, though, it’s her contagious passion for enjoying all that life has to offer that brings people back-for one more special occasion, one more moment shared and one more irresistible bite.
Anita lives with her family in the Jacksonville, FL area where she is an active volunteer and board member serving numerous community and charitable organizations.
